Smart Urban Management and 5G Network
In an ever-changing and increasingly environmentally aware world, Netgroup proposes a technology implementation plan to create and expand a Smart City model through the deployment of broadband and IoT technologies
The Challenge
Land as a heritage to be protected
Large and small urban areas, coming from a now long-standing historical and technological stratification, constantly need careful administrative assessments that inevitably go through land use and land use analysis.
Especially, not considering only the dutiful ecological aspects, today it is becoming increasingly necessary to manage urban safety, public land occupancy (parking), pollution and the protection of so-called weak users (pedestrians and cyclists) in a timely manner, thus interpreting the territory as a unique and comprehensive heritage to be protected.
The Proposal
Smart Urban Mobility Management:
urban sustainability comes through algorithms and 5G
Giuseppe Monda, B.U. Delivery at Netgroup, lays out how the use of technology can help citizens and urban life in its daily routine
Adhering to the guidelines of the Mise Call and investment plans for the diffusion of broadband, thus technological innovation in the country, a solution is being structured to support city mobility in a small village in Lazio aimed at developing a digital environment capable of managing and promoting the
- Sustainable mobility (road safety, weak user safety, environmental control, public land area management, etc.)
- Diffusion of broadband and IoT technologies (a digitalization path hinged on the integration of digital technologies and services)
- Dissemination of the Smart city model (models for urban planning, decision support, and management at the operational and administrative levels).
This will be possible through:
INTEGRATED AND CENTRALIZED IOT PLATFORM
For urban land control and studies preparatory to direct administrative actions
A NEXT-GENERATION NETWORK AT HIGH SPEED.
Making use of 5G infrastructure to ensure the movement of big data streams
AN ANDROID/IOS MOBILE APP
For the management of the citizen-smart services relationship made available in the area in question
ADVANCED HARDWARE
For data acquisition, analysis and land control
The Benefits
The advantages of the platform
The strength of the project is yes in the acquisition and processing of data, as mentioned through IoT sensors, drones or smart cameras, but the reality then is embodied in USE CASES that yield concrete results and subsequently enable specific actions in the field. Let’s look at some of them:
Tracking urban vehicular flows to calibrate mobility also in relation to weak users such as pedestrians and cyclists, setting up low-impact mobility
Complete picture of vehicular traffic useful for understanding the consequences of primary and secondary pollutant emissions
Intelligent sensing to optimize, control and abate any possible illicit behaviors of citizens
IoT sensors for automated study for vehicular flows and road users (e.g., tracking vehicle tonnage in relation to possible hazards on certain arterial roads)
The Results
Netgroup's contribution
When people think of smart technology, Artificial Intelligence and even drones, they often imagine something distant, cinematic or science fiction. The reality, however, is different. These systems are real and act to improve urban management and people’s lives, and that is the goal we strive for every day.
Enabling people’s lives to be optimized, together with the ecological goal, brings us closer day by day to the idea of effective innovation.
