Netgroup participates in CYBERSEC 2023
Netgroup was an official partner of CyberSec2023 – New Domains, Hybrid Wars and Cooperation, the international conference, now in its second edition, organized by the online newspaper Cybersecurity Italia. Our president Giuseppe Mocerino was among the protagonists of these two intense days dedicated to cybersecurity.
Roundtable Discussion "Online torts: new approaches and investigative methodologies through the use of Artificial Intelligence"
During the first day of CyberSec 2023 during the panel “Network Torts: New Approaches and Investigative Methodologies through the Use of Artificial Intelligence,” our president highlighted how crucial it is to change approach in the fight against cyber crime. “Predictive analysis mechanisms need to be put in place to curb actions of cyber criminals.”
He then focused on the importance of cyber skills: “If there is no basic minimum training of operators, any kind of investment is in vain.”
Mocerino went on to give an overall view with respect to the current state of cybersecurity in our country: “In Italy we have a two-speed view: on the one hand there is a central government that has already put in place significant investments and has a very good level of attention on security issues; on the other hand there are local governments that have a more critical situation, in that no investments have been made, there is a great lack on what is the awareness on the topic of technologies in general, and above all there is no projection with respect to future plans.”
The speech concluded thus, “A cyber resilient country is a competitive country. In 2023 this is something we need to be fully aware of.”
Individual intervention "Humans for cybersecurity"
During the individual talk, President Mocerino talked about how the concept of data protection has changed over the years “The need for humans to protect data has always been with us, first we spoke softly so as not to be overheard, in writing we protected the information that was transferred. Until then digital opens a new horizon: an information capitalism, where what varies is the range in which this information is available.”
He also emphasized how crucial the issue of education and training is for all those involved in cybersecurity, as their task is not only limited to knowledge of technologies, but also means possessing an analytical mindset: “The cybersecurity expert must first be a context analyst, then he or she must know what the technologies are. Hence a suggestion: Humans for cybersecurity. It started as a brand, then we gave it a soul, all the way to a patent.”
He concluded with a focus on artificial intelligence noting how it is now present in many aspects of our digital lives and how algorithms can identify us based on our behaviors, “How many likes does it take to know ourselves better? Will machine learning be able to know who we are?”
