Logistics 4.0 for the Km 0 supply chain
A success case regarding collaboration with a major player in the large-scale retail sector, engaged in the distribution of fresh food products
The Challenge
Smart Logistics for the protection of 0 km products in the large-scale retail trade
The increase in demand and the evolution-multiplication of related sales channels have changed logistics, requiring a more complex and organized management to plan supplies and proper stock allocation. In this sense, Netgroup, strengthened by a consolidated experience in the world of Logistics, offers Partners and Customers increasingly efficient and innovative integrated Software & Hardware solutions, with the goal of achieving virtuous and digital based operating models.
The project objective was to increase the efficiency and accountability of work processes by enabling intelligent management of warehouse locations and picking activities. The client’s request was to ensure availability at Retail locations of fresh produce within 24-36 hours of storage.
The Proposal
Our GEMINI WMS application platform
Antimo Lamino, Project Designer at Netgroup, introduces us to application innovation and integrated solutions to improve work process management in large-scale retail and ensure high quality standards in fresh produce distribution
To meet these needs, an integrated system controlled through our GEMINI WMS application platform, which is the core warehouse management software, is planned. As for field operations, two systems have been implemented, namely:
RTLS UWB
It is a real-time localization and tracking system of operational assets within the HUB through a mesh network of anchors with UWB technology.
VOICE PICKING
It is a voice assistant for picking operations that allows receiving ODL and communicating specific information by leveraging voice interaction with simple and immediate commands through an ergonomic and certified kit (headset and microphone)
The Benefits
Operational and technological benefits
TRACEABILITY OF DEPOSITS AND PRODUCT WITHDRAWALS.
DIGITIZATION
OF PROCESSES.
REAL-TIME VISIBILITY.
OF THE STATUS OF THE WORK
Added to these are benefits inherent in environmental sustainability: on the one hand, the RTLS UWB system that enables the use of electric self-driving vehicles (AGVs), and on the other hand, the GEMINI WMS and Voice Picking systems that provide for the use of digital work orders and virtual tags, thus reducing the production of paper documents.
The Results
Our Role in the Digital Transition
Thanks to solutions such as these, Netgroup is able to support companies in the process of Technology and Digital Transition, offering its know-how both in identifying operating models and systems in line with needs and in training operators by creating an ecosystem within which they can acquire skills.
The logistics industry needs profound changes. Our company is ready to accommodate them and to raise awareness toward the use of methodologies and tools to monitor and analyze processes and ensure greater sustainability and productivity
