Nemesi | Advanced Platform for Cyber Defense
Netgroup and other major partners support Leonardo in the NEMESI project. Through digitalization, automation, and the adoption of advanced technologies, the project aims to create a center of excellence for the production of aerospace structures, with the goal of improving the quality, efficiency, and flexibility of production processes. The objective is to redefine production standards in the aerospace sector, while promoting the development of new digital skills and greater integration of the supply chain.
The NEMESI project (New Engineering & Manufacturing Enhanced System Innovation) was created with the goal of transforming the production sites of Pomigliano d’Arco and Nola into modern Smart Factories inspired by the Industry 4.0 paradigm. Based on digitalization, automation, and disruptive technologies, NEMESI aims to make the Campania sites a center of excellence for the production of aerospace structures for regional and narrow-body aircraft, such as the ATR and Airbus A321.
This approach ensures significant optimization of production processes, while also improving logistics and supply chain. Netgroup and other major partners support Leonardo in implementing the NEMESI project, contributing to the development and implementation of the necessary technologies.
NEMESI focuses on three main initiatives: 3D design, for creating a complete digital mock-up of the fuselage, assembly line automation, and digitalization of the entire industrial process.
3D modeling, together with the use of robotic machines, enables selective automation that reduces production times and inefficiencies, improving quality and production flexibility. The use of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, digital devices, and Additive Manufacturing further support the automation process and improvement of working conditions.
NEMESI’s objectives are multiple and aim to achieve significant improvements in various aspects of industrial production:
– Optimize production processes by reducing production times and costs;
– Improve quality and production flexibility through automation and digitalization;
– Promote greater integration between individuals and machines, with operators becoming managers of the automated production process;
– Develop new digital skills through virtualized courses and collaborations with universities and research centers;
– Foster professional development of operators, who will need to work in Full 3D and become digital experts;
– Ensure greater efficiency in quality control through the use of Artificial Intelligence, databases, and rework traceability systems;
– Facilitate remote assistance and virtual on-the-job training through virtual and augmented reality.
