Agora Netgroup is the discussion space we devote to strategic issues for technological progress, with the aim of promoting widespread awareness of cybersecurity and stimulating innovations that will revolutionize society
From the password “123456” to fake bank SMS messages, and from unupdated devices to pirated apps: digital traps are hidden everywhere. Often, just a few clicks are enough to jeopardize your data, your identity, and even your family’s peace of mind. This is why “Connected Lives,” the ten-point guide to best practices for consumer digital security, was created. It is promoted by Netgroup, a leading Italian company in the cybersecurity and digital innovation sector, and Udicon (National Union for the Defense of Consumers), one of Italy’s main associations for the protection of citizens and their rights.
A clear and accessible handbook designed to help every citizen defend themselves against online dangers and adopt conscious digital behaviors. Ten rules (plus one) that translate cybersecurity into daily actions: updating, verifying, reporting, and sharing best practices. “Being conscious digital citizens does not mean giving up technology, but learning to use it with intelligence and responsibility,” reads the introduction to the guide. “Every click, every shared piece of data, and every ignored update can make the difference between security and vulnerability.”
The guide—presented during the latest edition of the Netgroup Agorà—addresses the main risks of modern digital life: from online scams to cookie management, and from personal data backups to the correct use of artificial intelligence. A true manual for digital self-defense, featuring concrete examples, real cases, and practical advice to avoid fraud, identity theft, and privacy violations. The goal is to create a widespread culture of digital security, starting from individual behaviors and reaching collective responsibility: because protecting your data now means protecting yourself and your community.
Here are the ten rules—plus one—of the “Connected Lives” guide:
- Protect your accounts with secure passwords and multi-factor authentication
- Pay attention: digital scams are recognizable
- Keep devices and applications updated
- Perform regular backups: protect your memories and your data
- Digital footprints: learn to control cookies
- Rely only on secure providers and platforms
- Illegal streaming, real risk
- Protect your privacy at home and on connected devices
- Use artificial intelligence with awareness and a critical sense
- Promote digital culture within the family
10+1. Report suspicions and anomalous behavior immediately: reaction speed is fundamental
“Digital security is no longer just a technological issue, but a cultural one. Every innovation brings new opportunities, but also new vulnerabilities: for this reason, cybersecurity must become a widespread skill, an integral part of the lives of citizens, businesses, and institutions. With Udicon, we chose to combine experience and vision to transform awareness into real protection. The guide stems from this conviction: technology can truly be an engine of trust and community if used in a secure, responsible, and human way,” stated Giuseppe Mocerino, President of Netgroup.
“Cybersecurity is now part of our daily lives, not just a topic for experts. Every day we receive messages, emails, or notifications that can hide scams and pitfalls, and it only takes one click to put our personal data and digital identity at risk. With the guide created together with Netgroup, we want to offer citizens a simple, concrete, and understandable tool: ten rules to recognize digital traps and defend themselves consciously. Because protecting your data means, first and foremost, protecting yourself,” added Martina Donini, President of Udicon.
