The Future of Quantum Computing
At Netgroup, we continually take on challenges that can set us ever more ambitious goals, in this case we are talking about Quantum Computing, one of the latest innovative technologies
FOCAL POINT.
COMPUTER QUANTUM: WHAT IT IS AND WHY IT IMPROVES AI.
Quantum Computing is an emerging discipline that features computer applications of physics and quantum mechanics for data processing, exploiting the qubit (i.e., all possible combinations between 0 and 1) as the fundamental unit.
Net of the obvious potential of this new tool, it is easy to imagine how the capabilities of conventional computers, with the use of AI alone, could rise in efficiency and accuracy with quantum computing. One would no longer be limited to producing functional applications with fine computational capabilities but rather more complex problems would be addressed by encompassing many more fields.
FUTURE
Innovative scenarios and the Italian landscape
Quantum computing is still an unknown topic for most companies in our country, and even fewer are reserving their funds for the development of this new technology. In recent years, however, this trend is slowly being reversed.
Investment has begun to be made both in the Public sector, with the 320 million euros allocated for the ICSC (National Research Center in High Performance Computing, Big Data and Quantum Computing), and in private enterprises.
Attention toward quantum computers is, therefore, very high indeed; in fact, international companies such as Google, Microsoft and IBM are investing significant stakes in QC, a field of Quantum Technologies, which could have the greatest impact on today’s society-from medicine to transportation, from logistics to artificial intelligence.
NET POV
Netgroup experiences in the world of Quantum Computing
Netgroup, over the past year, has been one of the national technology players delving into quantum computation, especially in the area of quantum cryptography and interfacing Quantum infrastructure.
With this in mind, we are investing in the recent field of Quantum Key Distribution, i.e., in the field of notchable and unbreakable against classical and quantum attacks.
In addition, we are dedicated to creating a channel of interoperability and communication between a quantum node and other infrastructures of a complex nature, such as cloud, multicloud or HPC, by proposing a prototype of Hybrid Quantum Computing, an innovative paradigm that will increase the scalability of the industry and enable, in the near future, the resolution of complex problems through interoperability between HPC and Quantum calculators.
