Oxford Street, Bond Street, Regent Street, all world famous London shopping locations and each specialising in a different type of product and client.
Oxford Street is most peoples first port
of call. Stretching from Marble Arch to Tottenham Court Road, this one
mile line of shops is the most popular tourist shopping area. It is here
that most national department stores can be found. Visitors alighting at
Oxford Circus tube find themselves almost exactly half way along this backbone
of the shopping district.
The most popular stores and what they are best known for are , running
from west to east:
Regent Street is an upmarket shopping street
which runs off Oxford Circus and finishes at Piccadilly Circus.
Stores include:
Bond Street: New Bond Street runs from Oxford Street to Burlington gardens where it becomes Old Bond Street and continues to Piccadilly. This is one of the most expensive shopping areas in Britain where world renowned designer labels abound mixed in with art dealers and jewellery shops:
Piccadilly is host to a wide variety of shops ranging airlines to tourist offices. Notable outlets include:
The Trocadero is located just off Piccadilly Circus and is host to many attractions and shops. This is the location of the new Sega European Theme Park, Rock Island Diner and Planet Hollywood.
Tottenham Court Road: located at the east end of Oxford Street is best known for it's hifi and electronic bargains. Just off this road and well worth checking out is RICHER SOUNDS, some of the cheapest hifi separates to be bought are here.
Knightsbridge is an area of elegant and very upmarket fashion boutiques and department stores such as Harrods and Harvey Nichols.
Kings Road best known for its 1970's role
as a clothing area for hippies. Still a very fashionable area to shop and
to be seen.
